Music as the composers would have heard it

About kathy

Kathy Williams-DeVries began her musical life on ukulele, graduating to recorder at primary school, before beginning a many decades’ long love affair with the clarinet. Realising during her Masters on clarinet she wanted to play Baroque music, she again took up recorder, and delved into the wonderful world of early clarinet, namely the chalumeau. She also plays on an 1843 boxwood 10 key clarinet, courtesy of Ruth Bonetti.

She plays regularly with Queensland Baroque, produces her own concerts and is an active member of the Early Music Society of Queensland.

During April 2019, Kathy played descant recorder in QSO for Opera Queensland’s production of John Adams’ A Flowering Tree.
